Panel Discussions | R3 Cleantech: Advancing Climate Innovation Event

R3 Cleantech: Advancing Climate Innovation is our sector-specific event that will focus on New Brunswick’s capacity, expertise, and growing business momentum around cleantech innovation and applied climate research. We’re focused on the opportunity of cleantech and how researchers and business leaders can work together to innovate and implement new solutions to the climate crisis.

We’ve set up two-panel discussions to dive into with our audience:

LEVERAGING THE SUPPORT NETWORK FOR COMMERCIALIZING CLEANTECH

Canada and the Atlantic provinces have a strong network of organizations and programs that can support researchers and entrepreneurs in their efforts to bring a cleantech innovation to market. However, sometimes using this support network to build impactful projects that move technology forward in commercialization can be challenging. This panel discussion will highlight approaches and strategies to leverage the innovation ecosystem around cleantech and build successful collaborative projects.

Panellists:

  1. Rick Nowlan, NRC-IRAP
  2. Meaghan Seagrave, BioNB
  3. Veerle Hellemans, UNB/ Springboard
  4. Monica Harvey, Clean Growth Hub

FINDING THE MARKET FOR YOUR CLEANTECH – BEING GREEN IS NOT ENOUGH

While everyone would like to reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact, the choice of a technology or product is made based on the value it offers in terms of performance versus cost. Therefore, cleantech cannot compete in the marketplace merely by providing solutions that are more environmentally friendly. For this reason, cleantech entrepreneurs must choose markets where the impact of their innovation aligns with the value it offers to the customer. This panel session will discuss strategies for finding the right opportunity for a given technology and how entrepreneurs can successfully validate their choice of market.

Panellists:

  1. Chris Mathis, Viable Solutions Inc.
  2. Andre Pelletier, RPC
  3. Bryan Watson, Cleantech North
