Flixel’s Cinemagraph Gives Supermodel, Tyra Banks, The Esthetic She’s Looking For

Imagine a travel poster of an Alberta waterfall, where you can see the current in the water swirl and sparkle; or a Facebook ad for a perfect cup of coffee, and the steam is rising in lazy, perfect wisps.

There’s something mesmerizing about cinemagraphs: high-tech, still photos with a hint of motion. Suddenly, the little things matter: the bubbles in champagne, leaves rustling in the wind, or the reflection of a car driving by. When New Brunswick entrepreneur Philippe Leblanc stumbled upon his first “living photo” five years ago, he knew this would become a vital new medium of visual expression. However, he had no idea how long it would take.
