Breakthru Boot Camp 2017

ENTREPRENEURS COMPETE FOR OVER $1MILLION PRIZE POT!

Breakthru gets underway with a record number of participants

Fredericton, NB – The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation is pleased to announce that a record number of entrepreneurs have entered its Breakthru startup competition. 140 entrepreneurs registered and attended the Breakthru Boot Camp on December 3rd, 2016 in Fredericton, marking the official start of the competition that will see four startup businesses share in over $1 million in cash and in-kind professional services.

“We were thrilled to meet so many ambitious entrepreneurs from across New Brunswick and from as far away as Iqaluit, Nunavut,” says Calvin Milbury, NBIF’s President & CEO. “The talent, passion and ideas on display at the boot camp were top notch and have us excited for the future.”

The NBIF kicked off its boot camp with a networking reception on December 2nd at the Delta Fredericton.

“Our guest speaker, Chris Ramsey, Radian6 co-founder and serial entrepreneur, really inspired the entrepreneurs by reiterating three things: dream big, go deep with customers, and surround yourself with good people” says Milbury.

The boot camp began at 8AM on Saturday morning at the Wu Conference Centre. And despite its early start, the participants were eager to get down to business. Barry Bisson, retired Shad President, led the sessions in business & financial modeling. Breakout sessions presented by partner companies such as Cox & Palmer, Deloitte and FCNB provided participants with expert input throughout the afternoon.

Participants now have until January 10, 2017 to submit their business plans to NBIF. The prizes will be awarded live at the Breakthru Awards Dinner on March 23, 2017 at the Fredericton Convention Centre. Tickets go on sale in early 2017 at www.nbif.ca.
