The Emerging Concepts and Technologies (ECT) Program, delivered in partnership with Net Zero Atlantic, provides grants to researchers at New Brunswick research institutions and to private New Brunswick companies. Grants made through this program will support the development of technologies needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in difficult to abate sectors. These solutions are typically at an early stage and require further validation and scale-up to advance toward commercialization.
Additional details are available on Net Zero Atlantic’s ECT-NB website.
The program offers un-leveraged, non-repayable grants toward proponents of R&D projects in emissions reduction technologies. There are two streams of the program:
• Stream I – up to $50,000: Projects developing the conceptual, early-stage genesis of novel technologies in New Brunswick.
• Stream II – up to $150,000: Projects evaluating the suitability of technologies emerging in other jurisdictions for New Brunswick.
The program is open to:
- Researchers at New Brunswick research institutions.
- Private New Brunswick companies. Businesses should be either incorporated in New Brunswick, or nationally incorporated but with significant operations in New Brunswick.
Eligible expenses include:
• Salaries for hiring research staff
• Third-party testing
• Laboratory supplies and materials
Project specifics and milestones will be finalized through a contract with Net Zero Atlantic. The contract will also detail metrics for reporting.
