Honouring Cathy Simpson: A Legacy of Leadership and Innovation at NBIF

Jeff White
CEO
NBIF extends its sincere thanks to Cathy Simpson for her outstanding leadership and lasting impact on our organization and New Brunswick.
Since her appointment as Chair of NBIF’s Board of Directors in 2015, Cathy has played a pivotal role in shaping NBIF through a period of growth and transformation. Under her leadership, NBIF invested over $100 million directly into New Brunswick tech startups and expanded its investment strategy to include fund-of-funds, broadening our reach and impact.
Cathy’s strategic vision, strong collaboration with the CEO, Board, and government partners helped establish a new organizational model – one designed to better serve founders, tech startups, and scaling companies through venture capital. Her influence has laid the groundwork for NBIF’s continued success and strengthened its ability to drive innovation, grow the value of its portfolio, and attract new investment to the province.
During her tenure, Cathy worked tirelessly and passionately with a constant focus and objective – what can NBIF do to help New Brunswick be a better province and what can NBIF Board of Directors do, to support the team to this end. Thanks to her consistent and steady leadership, NBIF is moving forward with a renewed mandate and a bright future.
Please join us in thanking Cathy for her outstanding commitment and leadership at NBIF, and for her unwavering dedication to New Brunswick’s innovation and tech startup community. While her journey with NBIF is concluding, her passion continues and she will no doubt continue to shape and strengthen the tech sector in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada.
