NBIF Funded Research Associate Wins Industry Award

Mathieu A. Landry, a Research Engineer with the K.C. Irving Chair in Sustainable Development at the Université de Moncton, was recently recognized as a “Rising Star” by the New Brunswick Knowledge Industry.

The NB Rising Star Award is an annual provincial event which recognizes workers in the knowledge industry from provincial businesses and organisations who have distinguished themselves by the quality of their work and their positive influence on their community and industry.  This year, twelve industry professionals from across the province were recognized during a recent gala in Moncton.

“The award given to Mathieu Landry recognizes the quality of his work and his contributions to the Chair along with his impacts on New Brunswick communities, said Yves Gagnon of the K.C. Irving Chair in Sustainable Development.  We are also grateful to the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation who finances a portion of the Mathieu’s research position, thereby contributing to the development of key sectors of New Brunswick’s economy.”

Originally from Dieppe, Mathieu Landry works at the K.C. Irving Chair since 2007.  A graduate of Université de Moncton and McGill University, Mathieu has previously worked at the Canadian Space Agency and in industry.

The K.C. Chair in Sustainable Development works in various sectors of sustainable development, notably in research and innovation in renewable energy, with a particular emphasis to wind energy, in climate change and in eco-efficiency in businesses.

The New Brunswick Innovation Foundation is an independent corporation which supports the development of innovation in New Brunswick.  Its mandate consists to reinforce the innovation capacity in the province by investing in applied research and in new businesses that have significant growth potential.
