NBIF-backed Flixel Top Paid Photo App in 50 Countries
Less than two weeks since Flixel Photos Inc. launched Cinemagraph Pro for Mac, the living photo creation software has achieved featured status on the Mac App Store where it reached No. 1 in the photography category in over 50 countries – including US, UK, Canada, Japan, Germany, France and China.
“To be featured by Apple is a privilege reserved only for a few apps every week,” says Philippe LeBlanc, Flixel’s co-founder and CEO. “We are thrilled to see that people across the globe are adopting cinemagraph images as a new and dynamic way of visual storytelling.”
Flixel Cinemagraph Pro for Mac allows users to intuitively and easily create cinemagraph images, a hybrid media form that combines the timeless quality of a photograph and elements of moving video.
On February 25, Flixel released a professional version of the app for Mac, previously available only for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. As a direct result of being featured on the Mac App Store, the app is now on sale from the regular price of $199.99 for $14.99 for a very limited time. The exclusive offer will expire March 13.
“It is important for us to educate people on the medium. One way of doing this is making the tool available to many at a lower price point for the duration of our Mac App Store feature,” says LeBlanc.
The new software includes support for UHD (4K) resolution video capture, masking tools, seamless looping options and a wide range of filters. Creators can upload and share their living photos in high resolution to Flixel’s community as well as to a variety of social networks.
Flixel also offers its audience the ability to embed living photos onto websites and blogs. The embeddable Flixel player hides the complexities of video on the web and provides a seamless experience that auto-plays and auto-loops in all browsers and platforms, including mobile.
Cinemagraph images are growing in popularity among professional and hobbyist photographers, marketers and advertisers. They are using living photos to push the boundaries of visual storytelling. Cinemagraph images gained a strong following after Tyra Banks utilized Flixel’s technology on Cycle 20 of America’s Next Top Model to create unique living images previously unseen in the fashion world.
